Inspiration

The inspiration behind Furniture Matchmaker was the common challenge many face: creating a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing room design. I wanted to develop a tool that makes interior design accessible to everyone, regardless of their design experience. My goal was to simplify the process of matching furniture and decor, making it as easy as starting with one or two pieces and an idea.

What it does

Furniture Matchmaker is an AI-powered application that revolutionises room design by offering personalised furniture and decor suggestions. Users input their room details, preferred style, and budget, and the app provides a curated selection of items that fit their criteria. It then generates a visual representation of their room with these suggestions in place.

How I built it

Furniture Matchmaker was innovatively crafted using the PartyRock platform, utilising prompt engineering to guide AI in creating and refining the application. This modern approach allowed me to directly "speak" to the AI, detailing specifications and design needs, and then watched as it transformed these prompts into a fully functional, user-centric web application. By sidestepping traditional coding, I could focus on fine-tuning the AI's output to match my vision, resulting in a tool that is as intelligent as it is intuitive.

Challenges I ran into

One of the main challenges was ensuring the image generation AI accurately represented the furniture described by users. We needed to balance creativity with precision to reflect the user’s vision. Another challenge was creating a user-friendly interface that could translate design language into a simple and intuitive experience.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We are particularly proud of the app’s ability to interpret and visualize user inputs into realistic room designs. The precision with which the AI matches furniture to the user's preferences, and the seamless user experience from start to finish, are accomplishments that stand out for us.

What I learned

Throughout the development process, I learned a great deal about the nuances of AI image generation and the importance of user experience design. I discovered that even small details can significantly impact the final design specifically the CFG scale and seed used in AI image generation.

What's next for Furniture Matchmaker

Creating a more sleek user interface and the introducing the ability to submit photos instead of descriptions for inputs. There's also the potential to implement augmented reality features, allowing users to see how the furniture would look in their actual space in real-time. My goal is to continue refining the AI to make it even more precise and to build a community where users can share their designs and get feedback.
