Inspiration

We wanted to put focus on the 'collapse of compassion' effect, whereby large numbers and statistics can desensitise people.

What it does

The application aims to match donors and beneficiaries using simple questions such as "what are your hobbies" or "what is your birthday". The beneficiaries will have an account created via the organisation, like Habitat for Humanity. A chat function is provided as well for further interaction, such as between beneficiaries for a support community. This aims to provide a more personal engagement with the issue and the beneficiaries.

How we built it

We built the platform using Flutter.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

For all of us, this was our first time trying Flutter. For some of us, it was one of the first tries using databases.

What we learned

When brainstorming, we also got to know the issue of housing and the issues of awareness, action and fund raising on a deeper level.

What's next for OnTheHouse

When it comes to connecting donors and beneficiaries, there can be many concerns. We believe that stronger security features are important, which requires communications with the relevant organisation. To make the prototype more functional, we would work on connecting databases as well.
