Inspiration

In 2019, we worked for a Food Tech startup and learnt first hand how notoriously tight net profit margins are for restaurant owners. This has inspired us to build an easy to use tool using generative AI to help restaurants effectively optimise their menus to drive more sales without the added time and costs.

What it does

Think of Omnom as your menu building co-pilot. Instead of hiring food photographers and manually thinking of descriptions for each menu item, you can generate everything with a click of a button.

Omnom will use information like the menu item name and its current description to generate a beautiful photo and optimise the description. And since we already have your entire catalog, we've also turned it into a visual menu you can add to any text-based menu using a QR code. We've also added in the ability to ask the menu questions e.g. do you have any burgers? or even what's tomato sauce actually made of?

How we built it

The platform is built using React and integrates with Square to fetch a merchant's catalog and OpenAI to utilise ChatGPT to generate menu item descriptions and menu item photos with the DALL.E models. The chatbot uses uses Langchain for its chat capabilities.

Our tool is live for restaurants to play around with and you can publish a visual menu in less than a hour!

What's next for Omnom

• Personalised menu for customers based on previous order history.
• Train Langchain to provide menu recommendations e.g. which wines will go with certain dishes.
