We understand that because of COVID, people are dealing with many problems, especially those with no access to transportation like the elderly or those without cars. So we came up with a solution- Omnia. Omnia allows you to set up errands that you'd like completed and others can sign up to complete the errand for you. It can be anything from getting your items from the dry cleaner's or a run to the post office.
What it does
Omnia allows everyday errands to be more accessible and organized to both the consumer and the errand taker. It does this by allowing a priority status to errands, so that those with more pressing issues can "elevate" their job priority to the top of the errand list. It also allows for scheduling of jobs so that a monthly trip to the pharmacist or a morning ride to work Monday, Tuesday, and Friday can be scheduled ahead of time (Ahhh bye bye morning rush). More errands are available to choose from and new ones can be requested allowing Omnia to be more fluid in the services that it presents.
How we built it
We used react-native for the front end and firebase for user login and registration.
Challenges we ran into
Issues with installed packages.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
What we learned
We learned a lot about react native and how it works, as well as how to work to trouble shoot common errors. We also learned how much a good team dynamic can make stressful work a lot more enjoyable!
What's next for Omnia
We would like to take this further and see if we can implement more features such as a calendar for recurrent scheduling, and perhaps try to bring this idea to reality.
