Inspiration
As a fashion designer with over 15 years of experience working for global brands, I’ve often felt the disconnect between the creative and technical sides of our industry. I had a clear vision: a platform where fashion freelancers, brands, and suppliers could collaborate efficiently, from ideation to production. But I had one big problem: I had no programming experience.
That’s when I decided to challenge myself and build the prototype of OMNI.FASHION using no-code tools and AI assistance.
What It Does
OMNI.FASHION is an all-in-one platform tailored to the fashion industry. It brings together:
- Freelance Marketplace: for designers, illustrators, pattern makers, and tech pack experts to connect with fashion brands.
- Sourcing Directory: where suppliers can showcase fabrics, trims, and services.
- PLM System: a simplified product lifecycle management tool that allows organizing briefs, collections, samples, and production flow.
How I Built It
I used:
- Bolt.dev to prototype the interface and connect frontend logic.
- Supabase for user authentication and database management.
- ChatGPT as my co-pilot: helping me write logic, debug, and understand how to structure everything technically.
- No-code principles, UI research, and a lot of iteration.
This project proves that even without a tech background, it's possible to build a working MVP with the right tools and community.
What I Learned
- Fashion professionals need tech, but they need it to be visual, intuitive, and adapted to real workflows.
- PLM systems don’t need to be overcomplicated or expensive — simplicity and clarity are powerful.
- AI tools like ChatGPT can bridge the gap between a creative mind and the technical world.
Challenges
- Translating a complex industry flow into a simple, usable product.
- Managing authentication, user roles, and interfaces without coding experience.
- Staying focused on core functionality and resisting the urge to overbuild.
What's Next
- Implement payment systems, messaging, and notifications.
- Launch public portfolio links for freelancers and job listing system for brands.
- Expand the supplier directory and run private beta testing with early users.
- Implement PLM system
OMNI.FASHION is more than a platform — it’s the beginning of a more inclusive, connected, and accessible fashion industry.
