Inspiration
OmegaEstate was inspired by a real problem I witnessed growing up. My father works as a real estate agent, and most property transactions and marketing were done through WhatsApp. While WhatsApp is convenient, it provides no way to verify whether someone is a legitimate real estate agent. This has led to countless scams, fake listings, and loss of trust within the industry.
I wanted to build a platform where buyers, sellers, and verified agents could interact safely in one trusted ecosystem instead of relying on unsecured messaging platforms.
What it does
OmegaEstate is a secure real estate marketplace that connects buyers, sellers, and verified real estate agents through role-based dashboards designed specifically for each type of user.
The platform allows:
- Buyers to browse properties or submit property requests that agents can respond to.
- Sellers to upload and manage their property listings from their own dashboard.
- Verified agents to discover new listings, respond to buyer requests, communicate directly with buyers and sellers, and manage client interactions.
One of OmegaEstate's biggest strengths is its trust model. Agents cannot simply create an account and begin operating. Every agent must complete an administrative verification process before gaining full access, significantly reducing fraudulent activity on the platform.
The platform also includes secure messaging, advanced property search, notifications, Google authentication, and role-based access control to ensure every user has the appropriate experience.
How we built it
OmegaEstate was built as a modern full-stack web application with security as its primary focus.
Key technologies and features include:
- Next.js and React for the frontend.
- Supabase Authentication with email and Google OAuth.
- PostgreSQL with Row-Level Security (RLS) to protect user data.
- Role-based authentication for Buyers, Sellers, Agents, and Administrators.
- Real-time messaging between platform users.
- Secure admin verification workflow for agents.
- Search and filtering system for properties and buyer requests.
- Notification system for platform activities.
- Secure API validation for administrative operations.
Beyond the application itself, we implemented multiple security layers including client-side route protection, database-level Row-Level Security policies, and server-side verification for privileged actions to ensure users can only access data they are authorized to view.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was designing a secure architecture that could support multiple user roles without compromising user privacy or platform integrity.
Other challenges included:
- Building a scalable messaging system between different user types.
- Managing database and hosting costs while developing.
- Designing secure authentication and authorization workflows.
- Structuring relationships between buyers, sellers, agents, properties, and notifications while maintaining good database performance.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that OmegaEstate is much more than a property listing website.
Some achievements include:
- Building a complete role-based real estate ecosystem from scratch.
- Implementing a secure agent verification system to reduce fraud.
- Developing advanced search and filtering that helps agents and sellers quickly find relevant properties and buyer requests.
- Designing a secure authorization model backed by PostgreSQL Row-Level Security.
- Creating a platform that encourages trust instead of anonymous transactions through messaging apps.
What we learned
Building OmegaEstate taught us far more than software development.
We learned how the real estate industry actually operates, how agents manage buyers and sellers, and why trust is one of the biggest problems in property transactions.
Technically, we gained valuable experience designing secure authentication systems, implementing role-based access control, working with PostgreSQL Row-Level Security, building scalable database relationships, and creating production-ready full-stack applications.
What's next for OmegaEstate
Our vision is to become one of the most trusted digital real estate platforms.
Next on our roadmap includes:
- Automated identity verification for agents using government-issued documents and professional credentials.
- AI-powered property recommendations based on buyer preferences.
- Interactive maps and location-based property discovery.
- Virtual property tours and appointment scheduling.
- Secure document exchange between buyers, sellers, and agents.
- Expanding across more cities while partnering with registered real estate agencies to create a safer property marketplace.
