What it does

Clockpax is a point and click game that explores themes of memory and time. Players assist the main character, Fefe, as she navigates a nonlinear world to collect and piece together fragmented memories.

How we built it

The game was built using Vite, React, Tailwind CSS, and AWS Amplify.

Challenges we ran into

We're proud of creating a functional game using React and hosting it on AWS. Additionally, we take pride in the compelling story that drives the game's narrative.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud of making a game that's working with react and hosted on aws, also I'm proud of the story

What we learned

We learned how to: Work with AWS Amplify for hosting and backend services. Develop a game without relying on game engines like Unity.

What's next for Clockpax

Future plans for the game include: Completing some functionality involving the use of verbs in gameplay. Exporting game data to integrate with Amazon DynamoDB.

Inspiration

This game draws inspiration from a recent contribution to a thought-provoking game called Unleaving. It is also influenced by a React Jam that took place not long ago. The narrative was inspired by the book The Midnight Library, a story about portals to countless places and opportunities.

In the game, you follow a little girl Fefe experiencing déjà vu about the future. Players help her decide which memories to collect in a world where time is nonlinear. By visiting various scenes, you piece together her fragmented memories.
