Inspiration. Olympic Mayhem is a mix of obstacle course racing games and incorporating modern technology, like smartphones, in a creative way.
What it does. Players navigate obstacle courses in a jungle setting, using their phones to control their characters and overcome challenges. The game's unique blend of physical and mental obstacles, combined with the unpredictable jungle environment, creates an exciting experience.
How we built it. Let's start fresh. Olympic Mayhem is a game I built using Horizon Worlds. I designed the obstacle courses and challenges within the platform's code blocking based building system. I utilized scripting to create interactive elements and 3D assets to bring the jungle environment to life. The game is set up to allow players to compete against each other, navigating the courses and overcoming hurdles.
Challenges we ran into. Creating Olympic Mayhem presented several challenges, particularly in finding the right balance of difficulty and designing a user-friendly experience. Ensuring the obstacle forces felt natural and fluid was also a key hurdle.
Accomplishments that we're proud of. I'm proud of what I accomplished with Olympic Mayhem. I successfully created an engaging and immersive experience that brought people together through friendly competition. Seeing players enjoy racing and interacting with each other was truly rewarding. The positive feedback and excitement from the community validated all the hard work I put into building this game.
What we learned. Working on Olympic Mayhem taught me that mobile accessibility offers endless opportunities for game development and player engagement. The mobile platform's reach and versatility can really expand a game's potential audience and impact.
What's next for Olympic Mayhem (mobile)
For Olympic Mayhem mobile, the next steps could involve introducing new game modes or events, maybe even incorporating augmented reality features to further enhance player engagement. Expanding the game's esports aspect or adding more social features could also be an option to keep the community active and attract new players.
