Many seniors choose to maintain their independence and continue residing in their own homes, the isolation and limited social interaction faced by many elderly individuals leads to loneliness and a poor quality of life, we aim to use data to solve this
“In 2021, 3.3 million people aged 65 years and over were living alone in England and Wales, 30.1 % of the older population.” - ONS
To address this critical issue and enhance the quality of life for our aging population, there is a pressing need for an innovative solution that leverages data-driven technologies to monitor anomalies in the emotional health and behaviour of elderly individuals living alone and automatically alert their loved ones when they should pop by for a visit.
The scope of this project is to track emotional health via data collected from an apple watch ECG and Accelerometer sensors and communicate these analytics with loved ones and social care services through an app.
As we continue to develop our product, we will incorporate more sensors to improve our ability to detect emotional states. Further, we will improve coverage and integration with social care services.
