Inspiration
Many aspiring entrepreneurs in India want to enter the printing industry but do not know which machines they need, how much space is required, or whether the setup will fit their budget. Okoboji Print Preneur was inspired by the need to make professional business planning accessible through a simple conversation.
What it does
Okoboji Print Preneur is an AI-powered business-planning assistant for the printing industry. Users describe their business idea through text or voice, and the platform asks relevant follow-up questions. It then creates a personalized machine workflow, recommends products from Okoboji’s catalogue, keeps the initial setup within budget, identifies future upgrades, and helps users request a verified quotation.
How we built it
We built a conversational interface connected to an AI orchestration layer, structured product knowledge, and Okoboji’s WooCommerce catalogue. The AI understands customer requirements and explains recommendations, while server-side tools verify machine prices, stock, workflow compatibility, and budget calculations. The system supports voice and text interaction and converts an informal business idea into a structured customer brief and machine plan.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was preventing the AI from inventing specifications, prices, or unsuitable machine combinations. Customers may also express budgets and production requirements in many different ways. We addressed this by separating AI reasoning from deterministic validation, normalizing Indian budget formats, retrieving live catalogue information, and enforcing the customer’s budget as a hard server-side limit.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created an experience that transforms a complex machine-purchasing process into a natural conversation. The platform can identify missing requirements, construct a practical production workflow, separate affordable machines from future upgrades, and generate qualified quotation leads. We are especially proud that the system combines conversational simplicity with validated product and budget controls.
What we learned
We learned that AI is most reliable when it handles conversation and explanation while verified tools control prices, calculations, and business rules. We also learned that customers often need more than product recommendations—they need guidance about workflow, space, investment, market opportunity, and the steps required to launch a sustainable business.
What's next for Okoboji Print Preneur
Next, we plan to add location-based market analysis using Google Maps, Tavily, Meta insights, and Okoboji’s historical customer data. The platform will estimate competition, target-customer concentration, shop size, commercial rent, startup costs, and break-even scenarios. We also plan to introduce real-time voice conversations, multilingual support for Indian languages, graph-based product memory, and an end-to-end business feasibility report.
