Inspiration

There are a lot of things happening in our community, both positive and negative. How do you know if there was a wildfire that happened near you? (Other than the smoke, obviously). How can you know if there is a new pothole that just formed on your way back from work? Sure, you can go to Google Maps in hopes of finding some notifications or your local Facebook group. How can you know the integrity and accuracy of the news? Well, today we are here to present to you our Project “OI,” a community-driven platform that lets users post anonymous posts with integrity using Google Vision AI.

When a shooting happened where I live, I wish there were an app for me to give real -time updates, and I wondered, “This is the route I take repeatedly to go to work, around this time. What would’ve happened if I were working that day?” This got me thinking: sure, social media can be effective, but how long after you get the exact details of an incident does it take to get them? What’s the correct address? Which streets should I avoid if anything bad happens?

Not only to spread the bad news, but also to see what’s going on in the community.

Goal 17 and Goal 3

What it does

An app that informs and builds a community around people

How we built it

The whole app was built using Claude code. We had a good idea with detailed prompts, and we built a prototype that mimics the simple flow of a user entering the app, taking a photo, and submitting a report.

Challenges we ran into

Initially, we planned to use the Google Earth Engine API. However, for prototyping and testing, we used MapBox for its incredible price structure.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Working Demo, even though it's just a simple feature, we are proud to say that we actually managed to finish it up within these time constraints

What's next for OI

Integration with Google Vision AI to validate images, build a version 1 from the prototype
