The inspiration for Ohm My Hive came from the urgent need to address the inefficiencies in energy management systems and combat climate change. Our team wanted to create a platform that not only tracks energy usage but also provides actionable insights to make sustainable energy decisions. Observing the rise of decentralized technologies and AI, we saw an opportunity to merge these innovations to empower individuals and communities.
What It Does
Ohm My Hive is an innovative platform focused on creating a smarter and more sustainable energy ecosystem. The project integrates advanced technologies into a cohesive dashboard for managing energy resources efficiently. Key functionalities include:
Smart Grid Management Dashboard:
- Real-time visualization of energy consumption and production.
- Trend analysis for better energy management.
AI-Driven Energy Predictions:
- Advanced machine learning models predict future energy demands.
- Suggestions to optimize energy usage and reduce costs.
Carbon Footprint Tracker:
- Tracks carbon emissions and offers actionable reduction steps.
P2P Energy Trading:
- Enables secure and transparent energy trading within communities.
How We Built It
Planning:
- Brainstormed features and designed wireframes for a user-centric dashboard.
Frontend Development:
- Created a responsive interface using React.js and Tailwind CSS.
Backend Development:
- Built APIs with Node.js and Express for handling user data and energy transactions.
AI Integration:
- Trained machine learning models with TensorFlow to predict energy patterns.
Deployment:
- Hosted the frontend on Vercel and backend on AWS for scalability and reliability.
