OGRE Encryption

OGRE is a lightweight offline file‑encryption tool I built with custom integer‑safe math and a minimal SFML UI. Drop in a file, add a password, and lock or unlock it instantly.

My partner and I built this to push ourselves to understand technologies that we take for granted. Writing our own math, file handling, and UI instead of relying on existing tools as well as working with AI (AI was only used for UI) to improve our understanding. We learned how to design a full encryption pipeline, map it cleanly into SFML, and debug the weird edge cases that show up when you control every step. The hardest part was keeping everything deterministic and integer‑safe while still making the tool simple to use.

The UI has some issues and needs to be improved later on. We are excited to continue this project later on and develop it into our ARM Monolithic Kernel Project. The UI was designed by Copilot to visualize what the encryption does, however, the UI became more of a hinderance. The code written by Copilot is not great and needs to be be rewritten. Much of the UI had to be written and adjusted by us, but we still had to work around the AI code.
