Inspiration
I was talking to my brother in my bedroom and he asked me why I hadn't sold a pair of shoes I had sitting around. I replied that I was busy working on my AI app and I was lazy. Then it hit me, why not leverage AI to make this process easy.
What it does
We use AI agents to turn photos into marketplace listings with 10x less time and effort than doing it manually.
How we built it
We focused on 1 marketplace to start and get the foundation right - eBay. Ebay also is the only marketplace which offers a REST API.
Challenges we ran into
In order to ship as quickly as possible, we leaned into more of an agentic backend instead of a typical deterministic one. The reason why we did this is because the eBay API was extremely complex with many requirements and also undocumented issues. Doing more of an agentic backend enabled us to hand off more abstract tasks to an agent, allowing self correcting and enabling us to move faster.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
1100+ pre orders at the time of writing this listing, which should be enough to shoot us onto the top charts in the shopping category on release. Genuinely having the most frictionless selling experience in the world (you be the judge :)). According to our early math we have strong indication that we will be profitable from day 1 taking into account expenses and CAC.
What we learned
How to scope down a big problem in order to iterate quicker.
