Inspiration
In 2020, out of the office doesn't mean on vacation anymore. Also, a company with 30 employees, no longer needs 30 workstations in the office. Tracking employees' work locations and time in the office will be a new challenge going forward.
What it does
It allows people to schedule time working from home, working in the office by reserving work stations, and a robust system for people to schedule vacation. It then combines all three aspects into one employee work schedule that can be managed and tracked by managers and fellow employees.
How I built it
Quickbase and Pipelines
Challenges I ran into
Trying to create a system that prevents double booking and allows editing and viewing privileges up and down the ORG chart.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Many checks on double booking, invalid vacation requests, and a nice approval structure.
What I learned
Pipelines are very powerful already, and there is a lot of room for them to grow to be even more powerful.
What's next for Office Scheduling
Add more interactivity on mobile platforms and integrate alerts beyond email to include text messaging.
