Inspiration
We were inspired by real-life escape rooms and their ability to make their participants think on the fly to escape. Our goal was to transform this experience into a virtual environment.
What it does
The project synergizes the learning experience of an escape room with the capabilities of Unreal Engine.
How we built it
We built the project using Unreal Engine and C++ to bring life and purpose to 3d meshes made from Fusion 360 and Unreal Engine's collection.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into the challenge of learning the ropes of Unreal Engine and C++ while realizing the bounds of our original design. Firstly, we were going for a 3rd person perspective, but there were too many objects that may block this view. This dilemma led us to utilizing a first person view and figuring means for player interaction with its surroundings.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of executing and learn a new set of obstacles in an unknown software.
What we learned
We learned C++ and the Unreal Engine development platform. In this experience, we found how to have text and player interactions within the software.
What's next for Office Escape
Next for Office Escape, we plan on implementing more riddles and different environments depending on an what topic we want to inform the player about. For example, a doctor's environment would have medical specific riddles to escape a doctor's room.
