Inspiration
Commoditized products are essential, high demand, or popular goods or services that can be physical or digital products. These are products that everybody needs. Commoditized products are what make up the majority of online sales. Competition is fierce,Product markets are saturated, and Consumers are demanding convenience more than ever before.
What it does
OfferUp basically allows private individuals (not simply companies or corporate entities) to solicit sales for products and services. OfferUp is called such because it is generally grouped within the publication under headings classifying the product or service being offered such as Accounting, Automobiles, Books, Clothing, Farm Produce, For Sale, For Rent, etc. and is grouped entirely in a distinct section of the periodical, which makes it distinct from display advertising, which often contains graphics or other art work and which is placed near to editorial content. This project is for the people who is focused on both types of customers, the Buyer and the Advertiser. The buyers are looking for posting ads based on their needs, priority, subcategory and the advertisers are looking for viewing the needed product and negotiate with the Advertisers for the proper deal that they were looking for.
How we built it
We built the web application using PHP, Bootstrap, HTML5, CSS3, JS, AJAX MYSQL, hosted on Texas State University Web Server(eros)
Challenges we ran into
Time Management is the biggest challenge for us and me and team are at good at skills and lack few skills so coordination was not difficult for us. However at the end we made it well.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
People now create web applications for online e-commerce application but we have quite a few online buying and selling used products which encouraged us to step into it and work on the application. We plan to work on the future enhancements of this application as well. We successfully submitted the application on Time despite of few recurring errors in very less span of time.
What we learned
Time management, We learned Ajax and bootstrapping.
What's next for OfferUp
We are planning to implement the unique selling point of this project is that it allows the Buyer and Advertiser to chat for negotiation and successful payment gateway for the products.
