Inspiration
Job rejections are frustrating — but what's worse is not knowing why you got rejected. Most candidates prepare by reading lists of common questions, but real interviews are dynamic, unpredictable, and role-specific. We've all walked out of an interview unsure how it went, with zero feedback. OfferOS was built to fix that — to give every candidate a brutally honest practice environment before the stakes are real.
What it does
OfferOS is an AI-powered mock interview platform. You paste in a job description, and OfferOS instantly generates a personalized interview session, asking role-specific questions, adapting follow-ups based on your answers, and evaluating your performance in real time. At the end of every session you get a detailed report: a hiring probability score, flagged weak answers, filler word analysis, and clear advice on exactly what to improve before the real interview.
How we built it
Challenges we ran into
The hardest part was making the AI feel like a real interviewer rather than a chatbot asking questions in sequence. Getting the follow-up logic right , where the AI actually responds to what you said and digs deeper required significant prompt engineering. Balancing honest, harsh feedback without being discouraging was another fine line to walk.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built an interview flow that genuinely adapts to your answers, not just a static Q&A The hiring probability score it's surprisingly accurate and makes feedback feel concrete Keeping the entire experience conversational and low-friction, so it doesn't feel like a test
What we learned
How powerful prompt engineering really is when you treat the LLM as a persona rather than a tool. Designing the "interviewer mindset" into the prompt changed the quality of output dramatically. Also learned how much UX matters for a product like this — if the interface feels stiff, the mock interview feels fake.
What's next for OfferOS
Voice mode — speak your answers, get tone and confidence analysis Company-specific modes — simulate a Google interview vs a startup interview Resume cross-check — compare your resume against the JD and flag gaps before you even apply Progress tracking — see your hiring probability score improve over multiple sessions
