As Gen Z innovators (aged 18-21), we’re tackling food waste—a problem costing the global economy $1 trillion annually. We realized that sustainability and profitability can coexist: by creating a win-win for businesses, consumers, and the planet, we can build a self-sustaining solution driven by youth entrepreneurship.

What it Does

OfferMart is a commission-based marketplace where:

  • Businesses list near-expiry items at 60-70% off retail price, minimizing losses from waste.
  • Consumers access affordable deals while supporting eco-friendly practices.
  • OfferMart earns a small commission (5-10% per transaction) to sustain and scale the platform.
  • Transparency tools show users the environmental impact of their purchase (e.g., "By buying this $5 basket, you’ve diverted 3kg of CO2 emissions").

How We Built It

  • Monetization Strategy:
    Researched commission models used by platforms like Too Good To Go, adapting them for fairness to small businesses.

  • Dynamic Pricing Engine:
    Built a Python algorithm to suggest optimal discounts (60-70% off) based on product type, shelf life, and demand.

  • Partnership Outreach:
    Collaborated with 15 local bakeries and grocers to pilot the commission structure, ensuring mutual benefit.
