Inspiration

The inspiration for this project came from the challenges people, both in developing and developed nations, face when applying for visas. In my home country, Nigeria, with a population of 200 million, there’s an entire industry dedicated to generating travel itineraries and organizing visa application documents in the right format for submission. Despite no guarantee of success, many people, including my educated parents, still utilize these services. I’ve seen friends my age using these services and even providing itinerary generation and document organization as a service. It’s clear that there’s a market for such services, not just in Africa, but potentially in East and South Asia as well.

What it does

Visa Voyager acts as your personal travel assistant, simplifying the visa application process. By inputting your destination and interests, our AI generates a personalized travel itinerary tailored to your needs. But we don’t stop there. We also assist with managing your visa documents and provide information about the necessary documents based on your home country and the country you’re applying to visit. Our goal is to streamline your visa application process, providing an itinerary that can be shared with the visa officer in a structured, formatted, and effective manner. With Visa Voyager, you’re one step closer to securing your visa and embarking on your journey.

How we built it

We built the application using Google Cloud’s Vertex AI agent and Streamlit.

Challenges we ran into

We faced time constraints and initially used some incorrect processes.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being able to complete and submit this project is a labor of love. So many issues crept up and I had to lean on my resilience which I have developed engaging in endurance sports.

What we learned

I learned how to implement a vertex AI chat agent in streamlit with python. I also learned about the improvements made by google and google staff in developing their dataset annotation and generation, model deployment and finetuning processes respectively. I am very excited to keep using this technology to develop as it seems like the easiest process of them all.
