Odyssey: HK Travel App

Odyssey fixes the disrupted connection between tourists and local Hong Kong tour guides and creates a platform to easily manage booking schedules for both parties.

Inspiration

Myy inspiration came from the need for authentic local experiences that connect tourists with local guides in Hong Kong.

What it does

Odyssey is a platform that facilitates communication and bookings between tourists and local guides for genuine cultural experiences.

How we built it

We built the app using a full stack approach with Next.js for the frontend and backend, MongoDB for data storage, and Firebase for authentication.

Challenges we ran into

We faced challenges with integrating real-time messaging as well as creating a user friendly experience anyone can use.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of creating a user-friendly interface that allows seamless interaction between tourists and guides.

What we learned

We learned the importance of user feedback in shaping our app’s features and enhancing the overall user experience.

What's next for Odyssey: HK Travel App

Next, we plan to expand our features, optimize performance, and implement analytics to track user engagement and improve our services. We also need to have different language systems for different people. Languages for foreigns as well as Mandarin etc for locals.
