Problem
Professionals out there who are willing to help students, but the problem is often they don’t know what students to help, how to connect with the students, or how to best help the students.
Solution
A web application that matches students with professionals through filling out questionnaires and scheduling one-on-one video sessions.
How we built it
Being individuals that have experienced a couple of the options of networking platforms (such as LinkedIn & Handshake etc.) for our career paths, we thought of something that will have the pros come to us. The project was created using a multiple of technologies, React, JS, HTML, CSS, AWS Amplify, & Bootstrap. Users (Professionals and/or Student) are able to create an account in which with filling out the appropriate information and filtration from the pooling. Students are matched with an X amount of professionals who will be scheduled to discuss whatever it is that brought them to the site.
Challenges
From the experience, we were introduced to a lot of software technologies we were not familiar with and what coffee at 1 am could do to a person. Challenges we faced during the hackathon was losing two of our group members who were the differing skillsets we needed for our project. That being said, the following bump in the road for us was the lack of backend knowledge. Lastly, was the time constraint we had with the time that we had left.
It was a long road for us, but happy to have contributed to the future of students (:
