Inspiration

  • We wanted a chance to code outside of class and to use our newfound skills. We are latin students too and this made the prompt even more appealing. We love to code and it is very fun to do it without the concern regarding grades and the stress surrounding time. ## What it does
  • Our program is meant as a helping tool for Odysseus before attempting his plan. In our program, he has the choice to 1. See into the future, and make decisions to see which ones are more beneficial and see which one's lead to grim endings. 2. He has the chance to have direct contact with Greek Gods who are able to give him fundamental tips in order for his plan to be a success. However, some gods may give tips which aren't so useful. ## How we built it
  • We built it using many conditionals, and if/else statements which are nested within each other. We also incorporated ASCII art for the SPQR logo at the beginning of the game. Our program was created on Eclipse - using 1.8 Java ## Challenges we ran into
  • We had problems with keeping track of our brackets in our nested if/else statements along with problems assigning our variables a value using our scanner.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • We coded 300 lines
  • our ASCII art
  • our Latin work
  • our creativity

What we learned

  • We learned that collaboration is key to achieving the best outcome possible
    • We learned a lot about Greek Mythology through this experience
    • We learned how to fix certain mistakes in problems with brackets and scanner issues

What's next for Odysseus's Journey - Text Adventure

  • After using our program, we are sure that Odysseus will have a very successful journey with no issues.
  • The code will prepare him for a successful journey and allow for trial and error without dire consequences.
