Inspiration
We have always made things for hackathons where something has some significant purpose. So for a change, we decided to make something fun!
What it does
A robotic arm grabs drinks from cupholders and mixes them.
How we built it
We used the LeRobot platform with the SO-101 robotic arms, using imitation learning to have a gripper autonomously select drinks, React for frontend, and FastAPI for backend REST APIs to interface with our LeRobot robotic arms. Additionally we used SpeechRecognition for voice commands. We designed CAD components to provide supports to our robotic components, and we modified one of the
Challenges we ran into
A lot of our teammates ended up dropping the competition last minute, which caused severe complications. Additionally, we had to deal with several issues configuring our robotic arms, one of our arms tipping over because it moved too fast and gathering accurate movement data.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our design, which looks great from the robot to the frontend.
What we learned
We learned to adapt and move fast under pressure, and quick last minute changes.
What's next for OctoBar
Several autonomous systems for a complete bar experience.
