Ocean Trash Detector

A large amount of marine trash is dumped every year. We have attempted to detect and track the trash before it ends up in the ocean.

Inspiration

Tons of non-degradable waste is dumped in the ocean every year. We wanted to use technology to limit it.

How it works

It uses the camera on the computer to recognize the object in real time and provide the correct tag to it immediately.

Our development process

We developed a custom data set of various objects in the ocean. We used IBM Watson to train a model to recognize the objects in real time.

What's next for Ocean Trash Detector

Keeping a track of all the trash that is being generated and is flowing in the water bodies.
