Inspiration
We want to be able to enjoy clean beaches and save the environment!
What it does
Our website, OceanRevive, enables users to capture images of messy or dirty beaches. These reports are then geotagged on a map, allowing other users to claim and clean up those locations. It fosters a collaborative approach to maintaining cleaner and safer coastlines.
How we built it
- React, Express JS, Google Maps API
- Designed using Figma
Challenges we ran into
- Setting up the coding environment
- Figuring out how to use Figma
- Fixing bugs in our codes
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- our user-friendly interface
- getting the website running
What we learned
- How to design with Figma
- How to use React and Express
What's next for Ocean Revive
- Make it into an mobile App
- Use AI to automatically detect and identify garbage in the photo taken by the users (such as needles, biohazards, and recyclables) so that users don’t need to manually enter a description of the garbage
- Log in capabilities for users
- Allow users to earn badges or points and share on social media platform
- Link to discord chats for the purpose of gathering volunteers
- Allow companies or schools to organize volunteer groups (with their employees or students)
