Inspiration
I am a visual learner and don't really understand things that are explained to me by words. I also don't work will with hidden meaning and usually get distracted with what is in front of me and forget to look at the deeper meaning. I know that I'm not the only one with this mentality and thats what inspired me to make this website; to bring awareness to the ongoing issue of ocean pollution is a way thats straightforward.
What it does
It has a slider which shows ocean pollution through the decades and to the near future. There are 2 scenarios with this slider: 1) if the pollution continues 2) if we choose to do something about the issue. Both scenarios have different outcomes to the the heatmap presented. I also have a simple rule based AI that calculates the impact the user is having with this issue and suggests ideas on how to improve.
How we built it
I built the entire webpage on an html file. I had many ideas and landed on 3 ideas that I wanted to implement on webage.
Challenges we ran into
I ran into many issues while coding the html file as every now and then I would forget to put a <\dev> which would cause huge issues along the way and would be very hard to spot as well.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud of the formatting of the webpage and the overall design as I knew what, how and where all the design aspects were going to go.
What we learned
I learnt to use tailwindcss which makes it easier to make the webpage look great and behave more smoother
What's next for Ocean Clock
I want to incorporate a full AI model similar to OpenAI or Anthropics to make the calculator more responsive
