Inspiration
We wanted to solve an issue in our immediate community. We then related to going to locations on campus and there being long lines.Wishing we had known long lines were there before we made the decision to go.
What it does
Our app allows users to track in real-time(including peak times) if the places they desire to go to, like a specific library, dining area, or hallway is packed. With this information the users can make pre informed decisions before they leave for the location. This will also help to reduce overcrowds and reveal the next available shortest path that they can use to get to class or their destination within the academic spine.
How we built it:
Using React Native, Javascript, Firebase for backend and expo,Gemini AI
Challenges we ran into
BACKEND thinking about it feels like torture
Accomplishments that we're proud of
as a collective we are made up of two juniors and one freshman well are all proud that we first of all decided to take place in our first and second hackathons.Where we are using the skills we learnt in our class room to help in building new skills or building new skills all together
What we learned
The process of how Backend is incorporated in mobile apps
What's next for Occupancy
We hope to collaborate with the university to have a better way to collect data about different areas.Which would help the app be much more accurate. We also hope to add more features which we didn't during the hackathon.
