Inspiration
-> Dorm-life Struggles
What it does
-> Informs users of shower occupancy in the common dorm bathrooms
How we built it
-> Adafruit Feather + Blynk interface = the next best thing for common showers
Challenges we ran into
-> Getting two feathers to talk to a single Blynk device
-> Getting the two feathers to talk to each other
-> Managing obstacles with internet connectivity during testing & development
-> Delayed parts request
Accomplishments that we're proud of
-> Improvising alternative implementation (with buttons) due to delayed parts request
-> Persevering through the troubles Blynk gave us
-> Creating mobile app wireframe to illustrate end-user functionality
-> Learning to use Solidworks (and ask for help) to CAD our device visualization
-> Branding! (logo + technology presentation)
-> Spray-painting :)
-> Presenting to the whole class!
-> Our wonderful team dynamic!
What we learned
-> Time efficiency
-> Teamwork
-> Adapting to new obstacles
-> Pros & Cons of Blynk as an IoT tool
-> Versatility of Solidworks
-> How to utilize Tangen Hall as a resource
-> Deeper familiarization with Arduino code
What's next for OccuPal
-> STWing project?
-> Partnership with Google (who knows?)
