Inspiration

As we know that this is a holiday season, So we decided to make a web application which will send postcards to your loved ones which you want to greet during holidays.

What it does

  • First the user have to sign up using an email ID and then login using the same one to the web application.
  • Then you have to select the occasion on which you have to greet your loved ones.
  • After selecting the occasion, you have to enter the sender email and receiver mail, and write a note/ greet the person you want. And send the postcard.
  • Now the post card is send and will be received by the person you want to send.

How we built it

  • For the frontend part, we have used HTML, CSS and JavaScript to design our web application. Then we have used bootstrap for designing and stuff.
  • For the backend part we have used NodeJS and for sending email, we have used Email.JS
  • Then we have deployed our app in vercel and used DNS to connect to domain name.

Challenges we ran into

  • The biggest challenge was using Email.JS to send the mail to the receiver.
  • Designing the frontend
  • Layout of different postcards

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We both are proud of ourselves that we have completed this project within the time limit. And my teammate who is first time hacker is also happy to complete this project with me.

What we learned

  • We learned how to use bootstrap at the frontend to design our web application.
  • We learned how to send email using Email.JS
  • We learned how to use DNS to connect our web application to a domain name.

What's next for Occasionator - Greeting app

In the future, we want to add more occasion we could be able to add this time. We would also like to make it an official web application which people can use freely.
