Inspiration
The basic idea was that when you really want to be with someone, dating is scary because of the fear of failure; it morphed a bit along the way into a song about being somewhat obsessed with a partner.
How we built it
How we built it
It is largely built using Fal. We get a reference picture for each character, and a file full of text descriptions for scenes and characters, and generate a still. We'll iterate on prompts recursively until we arrive at outcomes we like. The resulting image is then often edited before we convert it to a video. Often, video clips are cropped or adjusted, and sometimes we use more extreme editing techniques. Sometimes we also use start and end frames when generating.
Challenges we ran into
This was quite a straightforward project, but we generally work with animation, so the real setting created some complications.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It's not immediately clear that this video wasn't filmed and recorded the old-fashioned way.
What we learned
This was our second project using somewhat realistic imagery, which presented many opportunities to learn. Specifically, we wanted to get real humans with the soft feel of a romantic video, and we learned to develop our prompts and post-production to adapt to this. Using the FAL platform, I discovered that each model has its own strengths and creative style. For example, Seedance excels in producing realistic motion and natural human behavior, which made it the perfect choice for this project, something I hadn't known before.
