Inspiration
We wanted to make 3D visualization accessible using everyday photos and affordable sensors.
What it does
Object Visualization combines six photo views with ESP32 sensor measurements. Users can capture photos, view 3D models, and inspect width, height, and depth in millimeters or centimeters.
How we built it
We built the website with JavaScript, Vite, and Three.js. An ESP32 sends ultrasonic measurements over Wi-Fi to a FastAPI server, which supplies live dimensions to the website.
Challenges we ran into
Getting consistent sensor readings, connecting hardware to the website, and handling GPU requirements and API authentication for AI generation.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We connected physical measurements to an interactive 3D viewer, added phone camera capture, and displayed live dimension guides around the model.
What we learned
We learned how to connect embedded hardware, web APIs, and 3D graphics—and why calibration matters when combining them.
What's next for Object Visualization
Complete automatic TRELLIS generation, use multiple photos for better reconstruction, and scale generated models to match sensor measurements.
