Object detection has real world uses so we wanted to make our own version of it that others could use to teach themselves. We learned about overtraining models and how the armies implementation of object detection was overfit and so it originally detected the sky as a tank. With AI becoming increasingly popular and object detection being more and more utilized we wanted to tackle this problem ourself. We built our project by utilizing the various classes and methods in open cv and a LOT of research from the internet. We gathered information from other programmers and utilized the internet to figure out how to effectively implement open cv. Our original project didn't work as we faced immense tech issues so we had to make the harsh decision to switch projects in the last 3 - 4 hours of the hackathon. We were inspired to pursue this idea as not only does object detection have an increasingly important job in our society, but we were able to pursue the basics of this idea in our class this year. We want aspiring programmers to be able to explore this project and it's usage in society. We also wanted students to be explore to explore the codebase to help them gain an understanding of the basics of object detection and it's potential implementations.
