Inspiration

One of our members has been passionate about this issue for years - we saw what could be done by a parent working on the issue at an international scope, and we were inspired to do it on a local scale ourselves. Another member has also given several speeches on this topic.

What it does

OBCD is a tool that connects people to farms by taking a location from the user and finding the ten closest farms to that location in San Diego or LA county and their produce. This is very helpful for getting food from a farmer to a feeder without the middlemen inbetween.

How we built it

We built this site with HTML and CSS using VS code, with liberal help from several prominent coding sites for actually learning how to code. We did not use any AI for that. Principles, y'see.

Challenges we ran into

Our main challenge was never having created a website or really any other kind of coding endeavour outside of the abstracted CS problems realm. Fortunately, other people on the internet know how to code, and we were able to feed on the accumulated wisdom of the ancients.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

What we're really proud of is actually managing to make the website within the allotted time frame. It wasn't easy.

What we learned

We learned how to use HTML and CSS, which was a pretty big accomplishment for us.

What's next for OBCD

Next, we expand to the global market. Before long, no country will be safe from the relentlessly positive force for change of OBCD.
