Inspiration
A study done by researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison shows that “with an estimated 97 percent of adolescents playing video games in their free time, there is growing potential to design games as tools for attention-building instead of attention-busting.”
What it does
In addition, remote therapy has the advantages of saving money and commute time, offers flexibility in scheduling, and allows users to be in a comfortable environment. It is also often the most resource-strapped groups that need access to therapy the most.
Combining the known benefit of remote therapy, the potential of gamified meditation exercises, and the affordances of VR, we created Oasis - a collaborative meditation VR game that offers engaging, remote therapy sessions, a more accessible alternative to the traditional in-person therapy/meditation sessions
How we built it
Challenges we ran into
We tried eye tracking with the vive pro eye. we tried the North Star AR headset but ran into problems with the software.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
What we created.
What we learned
Networking with normcore. Hand tracking with Oculus Quest.
What's next for Oasis
More interaction with the environment and single player mode.
