Oasis

Inspiration

Growing up, I was fortunate to have an aunt who was a nutritionist. I learned from her so many way to eat healthier and I think it has increase my quality of life substantially. It also made me realize, how especially in minority communities, there seems to be less health consciousness about what we consume. This tends to create a feedback loop where healthier food options no longer establish in this types of communities. These create food deserts which lead to additional problems such as widespread obesity and additional health issues.

What it does

Oasis is a an app that tries to create a fertile place in these food deserts by informing users about health options in their food.

How I built it

Used iOS and swift to build a mobile app.

Challenges I ran into

Integrating the ZBarSDK which would be used to scan barcodes was not possible in this time frame.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am proud of the login screen and the successful consumption of an API.

What I learned

Cocoa pods, storyboards are amazing for productivity.
