Inspiration

The project begins with the traditional song O Lisabéta, a playful lament about a man chasing a runaway girl through Bonifacio. I expanded this into a mythic port-city — a kind of maritime Baghdad infused with Homeric gigantism, Arabian-Nights mystique, and the saturated energy of Bollywood epics.

What it does

The film turns the simple tale of runaway love into a comedic odyssey, following a group of would-be suitors tearing through the city’s alleys, markets, temples, and ports in search of Lisabéta. The city becomes a living character — radiant, labyrinthine, overflowing with dancers, sailors, prophets, and mischievous spirits. Lisabéta herself is a mystery: a nymph, a mirage, an enchantress — or simply a young woman who has no intention of being caught. The visuals celebrate color, movement, exaggeration, and charm, echoing both the One Thousand and One Nights and the exuberant choreography of Bollywood.

How we built it

All imagery was crafted with Hailuo ai, Kling Ai for musicians shots and Dreamina AI, weaving together: a mythic, Mediterranean–Middle Eastern port-city bathed in gold and turquoise wide peplum-like vistas with Homeric cliffs and gigantic statues guarding the harbor vibrant Bollywood-inspired color palettes and swirling fabrics comedic action sequences where the men stumble, chase, argue, and hope in equal measure The edit embraces rhythmic escalation, matching the neo-classical arrangement: each verse triggers new locations, new exaggerations, and new bursts of choreography.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge was translating humor into visual mythology. It required finding the right balance between epic grandeur and playful absurdity, ensuring the chase felt both ridiculous and genuinely emotional. Lisabéta herself needed to remain untouchable, magnetic, and always one step ahead.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We created a fable that feels universal, extravagant. The humor is gentle but vivid, carried by characters who are endearing in their foolishness. The blend of mythic architecture, Bollywood spectacle, and Mediterranean folklore gives the film a visual identity. Lisabéta emerges as a symbol — freedom, desire, and the joyful impossibility of possession.

What we learned

We learned how to transform a light, repetitive folk text into a full narrative explosion. The process deepened our ability to merge humor, myth, and romance within a cohesive cinematic structure. It also strengthened our technique for rendering ensemble comedy without dialogue, relying purely on rhythm, framing, and emotional exaggeration.

What's next for O Lisabeta

The film will enrich the Corsican Anthologies, serving as the playful, colorful counterpoint to the more introspective or dramatic chapters. Later, it should be integrated into a live audiovisual performance where dance, music, and mythic storytelling collide in an immersive setting.
