Inspiration
We were inspired by sports and how they're a big part of our culture. People listen to them on the radio and follow them closely. we wanted to make a similar product that updates you on command of the state of the games. With the finals of Worlds for League of Legends today, we felt it was the perfect environment to implement this idea for esports through a discord bot. It allows us to stay updated when we don't have the ability to be watching the games directly, like during school for example
What it does
When called, it will give you allow you to access the Riot Games database of pro matches during Worlds. It will then allow you to check the detailed stats of each game.
How we built it
We used Python and used an API. We used the requests library and Discord library.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into problems implementing and accessing the data given to us by the API. It was rough since we had never used Python in this way before.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that it works and gives the user accurate data on the matches. We are also proud of learning how to use Python in this way and how to process a lot of data from an API.
What we learned
We learned how to process data from an API and use Python for those purposes. We also learned how to make a Discord bot for the first time.
What's next for [O] League Esports Bot
We would like to implement live automatic updates on any current pro matches.
