NYOTA YA MAISHA BORA

INSPIRATION

What inspired us was the need to clear the polluted landfills that were negatively affecting the people within the vicinity.

WHAT IT DOES

We collect plastic paper waste such as polythene paper bags, and use them to make a lining in bags and clothes. This enables the merchandise to be waterproof.

HOW WE BUILT IT

We amassed a good number of plastic paper waste material from the nearby neighborhoods, sowed them together and placed them strategically as clothe lining on a number of back packs and sweaters.

CHALLENGES WE RAN INTO

1. Accessing the waste material. Most of the waste is found in places that poor security detail.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS THAT WE'RE PROUD OF

1. We managed to get rid of a small portion of the waste material.
2. We were able to make 80 waterproof back packs.

WHAT WE LEARNED

1. We learnt that Necessity is indeed the mother of invention. If we were not faced with this predicament, we wouldn't have created this project.
