What inspired me
Since I was young, I’ve seen many situations where people around me struggled simply because they didn’t know what legal steps to take. A classmate stayed silent after being bullied out of fear. One of my elder cousins was targeted in an online scam where a fake police officer threatened him with a false FIR. My father often had to rely on relatives for legal guidance because he didn’t understand the system.
I saw people receive damaged or empty packages from online marketplaces and not know how to report it. In college, several students faced harassment or assault in social situations but were too afraid or ashamed to speak up. I’ve also seen domestic violence victims stay quiet because they didn’t know their rights.
And this is not just a local problem. Whenever people travel, study, or work abroad, they often have no idea about the local laws of that country. Foreigners frequently feel completely helpless in another nation’s legal system because even basic rights, processes, and protections are unknown to them.
All these situations made me realize something important: people don’t avoid justice because they’re wrong—they avoid it because they don’t know where to begin, especially when they’re outside their home country. This is what inspired me to build NyaySaathi
What it does-
NyaySaathi is a private, friendly AI that helps people facing stressful legal situations—cyberstalking, online extortion, workplace harassment, consumer fraud, tenant–landlord disputes, intimate partner violence, and more.
Many victims stay silent because they are scared or confused. NyaySaathi lets them talk openly and safely to an AI that listens without judgment. The system analyzes their situation, checks thousands of similar past cases, and guides them on:
what evidence to collect,
what usually happens in similar cases,
which legal sections may apply,
and how strong or risky their situation is.
It then generates a clear, lawyer-ready case summary and connects the user to the best lawyer with experience in similar cases.
NyaySaathi also helps foreign visitors, migrant workers, and international students who often feel helpless in a new country because they don’t understand the local laws. The system gives them region-specific legal guidance, helping them act confidently even outside their home country.
In upcoming versions, NyaySaathi will become even more powerful by being able to:
understand emotions through voice and facial expressions to offer more sensitive and supportive guidance,
give every user a personal legal “digital twin” that remembers their documents, rights, and risks for ongoing protection,
translate complex legal language across multiple global languages so anyone can understand their rights easily,
and continuously update its own legal reasoning based on new court judgments and legal changes around the world.
NyaySaathi makes legal help easy to understand, region-aware, and accessible to anyone, anywhere.
How we built it
NLP for natural conversation
Hybrid RAG model trained on past judgments and legal texts
OCR to read documents and evidence
Machine learning for risk and bias analysis
Strong privacy layer with encryption and blockchain audit logs
A simple, safe UI for stressed or vulnerable users
Everything works together to take a person from confusion → clarity → evidence → case summary → best lawyer.
Challenges we ran into
Legal data is messy and hard to structure
Avoiding direct legal advice required story-mode design
Bias and power analysis was complex
Evidence checklists needed detailed research
Ensuring privacy and encryption added technical weight
Designing a safe UI for victims required sensitivity
Multilingual support was challenging
We solved each challenge step by step.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
NyaySaathi can:
Listen to people who often have no one else
Guide users using real past cases
Help gather the right evidence at the right time
Auto-generate timelines, legal sections, and case briefs
Detect social bias patterns
Connect users to the most suitable lawyer
Make people feel safe during stressful moments
We are proud that this system can genuinely change someone’s life.

We learned that:
People need empathy and privacy when they are scared
The legal knowledge gap is global
Hybrid RAG can simplify complex laws
AI can structure messy conversations into clean case files
Privacy builds trust
Early evidence collection prevents long delays
AI can make justice simple, human, and accessible
What's next for NyaySaathi
We plan to:
Support multiple global languages
Expand into other countries with local legal datasets
Add voice-based intake for accessibility
Improve outcome prediction
Partner with legal institutions and NGOs
Enable auto-filing of simple complaints
Launch mobile apps Build jurisdiction-aware RAG for US, UK, Europe, and others
We are also building:
a self-evolving legal reasoning engine,
emotion-aware multimodal intake,
legal digital twins,
multi-language legal translation,
ethical-law alignment engines,
predictive compliance coaching.
Our vision is simple: No one—anywhere in the world—should feel alone or confused when facing a legal problem. NyaySaathi will stand with them from the very first step.
