Inspiration
Nyaya AI Ivory started with my father.
This is not a made-up story. When I call my father, around 20% of the time he tells me that he is waiting for a lawyer or going to meet a lawyer because of some legal issue. Seeing this repeatedly made me think that there should be a simpler way for people to understand their legal problems and know where to start.
That is why I wanted to build a solution for him.
I still haven't shown this project to my father because I want it to be as good as possible before I put it in front of him. I am still developing it, improving it, testing it, and trying to make it something that I can confidently hand over to my father's hands.
Building It
I built Nyaya AI Ivory as a solo developer. There was no team, no dedicated support, and very limited time.
At the same time, I was working at a startup company, dealing with the pressure and responsibilities of that job while trying to build this project on my own. On some days, I stayed at the office until 12 AM and continued working on Nyaya AI Ivory whenever I could.
A few parts of the project were completely new to me.
For example, hosting the application on Vercel took me around two days because I had never handled that deployment process before. Integrating Razorpay took me almost one full day, again because it was something new for me.
These things took longer than I expected, but every step became another opportunity to learn something new.
I also tried Railway during development, but I eventually stopped using it and continued with the setup that worked for the project.
The Hackathon Journey
I also tried organizing a hackathon around this project for a week, hoping that other people would participate and contribute. Unfortunately, nobody participated, so I eventually deleted the remaining parts of that setup.
Marketing has always been one of my weakest areas. I am not very good at promoting what I build, but I continued building anyway.
I created official pages for Nyaya AI Ivory on Instagram and X and plan to continue working on its presence.
What I Believe
I built this project because I believed I could build it.
I also believe that I can eventually monetize it, but I haven't focused on monetization as the primary goal yet. I originally wanted to make the core legal assistance available for free to everyone. At the same time, I know that I am not financially strong enough to simply keep everything free forever.
Even spending money on a domain has sometimes made me hesitate because of my financial situation. But I decided to continue anyway and build with what I have.
I had no team, very limited time, financial constraints, and a full-time job. Still, I kept moving forward.
For me, every step of building Nyaya AI Ivory has also been a test of my patience and consistency. It has tested how I handle pressure, how I learn unfamiliar technologies, and how I continue working on something even when the circumstances are not ideal.
Where It Is Now
Nyaya AI Ivory is now a working platform rather than just an idea.
It has an AI legal assistant, legal reasoning and RAG capabilities, multilingual support, legal workflows, document generation, user accounts, profile management, analytics, payments, and other supporting systems.
I am still improving it.
My goal is to eventually make it good enough that I can put it directly in front of my father and say, "This is what I built for the problem you kept facing."
After the current hackathon and judging period are over, I plan to continue developing Nyaya AI Ivory from where I stopped. If necessary, I will continue the work in a new pull request and merge it into the main branch when it is ready.
I don't know exactly where this project will end up, but I know why I started it, and I intend to keep working on it.
