Inspiration
As Gen-Zs, we are constantly immersed ourselves in rapid change of the environment and challenges within, giving rise to mental health issues. Music, as an intangible therapy, provides younger generation mental comfort and support. The inner mind rhymed with music serves similar functions as nutrition in which nourish the mental health and growth of individual. Therefore, we came up with a tool to sum up user's most-liked music which assist them to witness different periods of life. By concluding the music tracks, we walked though different life phases of the user.
What it does
Nutritionify uses the Spotify API to draw real user data into the server, and in the format of a nutrition guide, report back the top track, artists, and minutes of a song. In a world with ever-evolving technology and personal taste, provides users with a fun and innovative way to get a summary of what they've been jamming to in the past few months.
How we built it
Our process involved a culmination of front and back end programming using JavaScript, HTML and CSS, and React-Native.
Challenges we ran into
Understanding how to make the connection between the separate front end and short end programs we had partially developed was a challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
From getting the project to run after several failed attempts to even getting the code to compile. Additionally, finally being able to make successful Spotify API call after hours of tireless effort.
What we learned
We learned the value of collaboration through bouncing ideas off of each other, despite all of our varying degrees of experience. Everyone was able to gain a new sense of confidence in their abilities and then some.
What's next for Nutritionify
In the future, we hope to update the infrastructure to be able to support more than 25 users. Additionally, we want to be able to use this application for more features, such as reporting back the top podcasts users may have listened to.
