What it does
Full point-of-sales system with built-in tools to create nutrition labels, barcodes, and inventory management
How we built it
We built it in Swift, and NodeJS for backend, incorporating Firebase cloud services for authentication and data persistency.
Challenges we ran into
We couldn't fully sort out USDA API because the data is too raw and not finite. We could only retrieve generic grocery items but couldn't narrow down to brand products.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The app is fully functional (as an MVP), but there are more rooms to grow the project.
What we learned
We have learned the new Combine framework within Apple's ecosystem and also how to implement sockets using NodeJS. It was a learning curve but worth the time to study!
What's next for Nutrition POS
We are planning to expand the project by introducing more features to it and publish it in Square Marketplace.
