Inspiration
Eating disorders affect approximately 9% of the global population, with recovery being a complex journey that requires personalized support. Traditional nutrition apps often focus solely on weight management, which can be triggering and counterproductive for those with disordered eating patterns.
What it does
Nutrition Nana is a website that allows people to help get back on track to a healthier lifestyle while navigating the troubles that come with eating disorders. By suggesting healthy yet delicious meals users can attain health goals they’ve always wanted without feeling like they need to completely reinvent their lives. On top of this, Nana gives resources to users in order to further educate them on their health journey.
How we built it
Using VS Code we made an html program and used Notion to maintain our database
Challenges we ran into
The biggest problem we faced in our process was connecting our front and back end. Since we were using HTML, we had to also implement JavaScript to connect to our database of meals.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are super proud of how our program looks and how are program feels very supportive to those who may be struggling with disorders. Additionally we are proud of how abundant our dataset is.
What we learned
We learned a lot today about how to connect front and backend processes between HTML and API's like Notion.
What's next for Nutrition Nana
While we implemented lots of our program we still think Nutrition Nana could be more flushed out. Some of the following are additions we wanted to make but could not find the time for:
- Weekly menus that can have alternate meals if the User doesn’t like them
- Adding a “Nana’s Favorite” category for especially healthy meals
- Implementing an Allergy/Dietary restriction element to tailor the menu to the user
- Show more detailed nutrition information in meals and how to make the dishes
Built With
- html
- javascript
- notion
