Inspiration

We wanted to know calories we are going to consume before eating

What it does

By taking a photo, the app identifies the object using visual computation API from Cloudsight. Using the food database, the app find right calories using the food name

How we built it

Backend: PHP Frontend: HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3

Challenges we ran into

Visual Computation API is by no means perfect. Also, finding the volume of food that we are taking photo of was also problematic

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We delivered working app via many layers of data processing using many API's

What we learned

There are many limitations of the API's and need to know them beforehand when building applications

What's next for Nutrition-Detector

Coming up with an algorithm that can complements the weakness of Visual Computation API could be a huge improvement
