Inspiration

Nowadays most people are not aware about the foods they consume and whether they are good for their health or not. So we decided to built an app which let users know whether the foods they are consuming are healthy for them or not.

What it does

Basically it lets users know the ingredients contained in the consumed foods by scanning the barcode present on the food packet, and tells the user whether the food is consumable for the user or not. It also serves as a common podium for sharing the users experience about the product.

How we built it

We have made use of open food facts API, fast API. We built the app using react native and also used javascript and node js in the backend.

Challenges we ran into

Developing a food health app with barcode scanning could face challenges related to data accuracy, as product labels might change frequently, leading to outdated information. The app may also need to address user privacy and data security to protect personal health information. Additionally, handling scalability can be a challenge as the app's user base grows, requiring robust backend infrastructure and efficient data processing capabilities.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of achieving high level of data accuracy. Our app has user friendly interface and we have implemented robust security measures to protect user data.

What we learned

Throughout our project we have learnt the importance of user feedback in refining our features. We have gained deeper understanding of user authentication and also discovered that scalability and flexibility are crucial for adapting to a growing user base.

What's next for NutriScan

The next steps for NutriScan include expanding our food product database to ensure broader coverage and introducing more advanced machine learning algorithms to enhance the accuracy of nutritional analysis. We plan to collaborate with nutritionists and healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive diet plans, creating a holistic ecosystem that supports users in achieving their wellness goals. We will implement a form system where the user can fill their health parameters.
