Inspiration
One of the biggest challenges of running a grocery operation is maintaining the refrigeration units and ensuring that the fresh perishables, dairy, meats, and frozen foods are well maintained and mitigate spoilage and energy waste. Leveraging Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities to do this only scratches the surface of what the IoT technologies are capable of.
A freshness monitoring system can help grocery stores keep track of freshness of their stock. This reduces the need for detecting spoilt produce manually. Waste will drastically be reduced as produce can be kept if it hasn’t started rotting. Produce will not need to be thrown according to expected time of being spoilt. Instead, decision can be made after having in depth analysis of the state of the produce. This way food that is not spoilt will not be wasted.
