In America, obesity rates are high, and healthcare is expensive, so we need to take care of our bodies. Many people are not aware of how certain ingredients in their foods can affect their health. Many companies use complex scientific names so that the consumer is not conscious of what is going in their bodies.

What it does

Translates complex ingredients, Categorizes ingredients, Identifies health issues and benefits linked to foods, Scan food label or nutrition label, app will tell you what risks or effects can come out of that food product, has the ability to scan either scan a product from the real world, or use the search bar in the app to search for any brand’s nutrition label.

How I built it

We used Balsamiq Mockups to create a mockup of the app. Then, we used Google Sites to give it more style. Next, we coded the Google Sites design with HTML/CSS to see how the app would look more stylized.

Challenges I ran into

We had trouble at first designing the layout of the app, with Balsamiq especially. We weren't very familiar with the program so we had to learn how to make our layout.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We are proud of thinking of an original product that stands out from other nutrition or food tracker apps. Our product is simple, and straightforward, and has a unique feature of a nutrition label scanner.

What I learned

Through the creation of this project and the research we completed, we learned more about the chemicals in the food we consume on a daily basis. There are so many harmful ingredients in food, and most people don't even know exactly what they are putting in their bodies.

What's next for NutriCare

We would plan to learn how to create mobile apps so we can bring NutriCare to life. Implementing the scanner would also be a challenge that we are all excited for, and expanding the app to include more services is also a goal of ours.
