Inspiration:

Healthy eating is an essential function of humans and a struggle for many people. All members of this team have struggled with this issue to some extent and wanted to make the process of eating healthy easier with a follow-along AI-based web program.

What it does:

This platform streamlines the process of creating meal plans through user-friendly steps and uplifting motivational messages. Its minimalistic UX ensures a distraction-free and efficient meal preparation journey. Additionally, we implemented OpenAI’s ChatGPT 3.5 Turbo to act as a professional dietitian and reply to user inputs with diet plans, and meal plans.

How we built it:

At the outset, we conducted a brainstorming session to identify pertinent social challenges, with health and fitness emerging as a central concern that resonated with our team. Given the constraints of time, we concluded that crafting a website represented the most efficient course of action. Subsequently, we embarked on a journey of learning and website development. Our chosen tools included OpenAI for the API and Bubble.io for the site's development.

Challenges we ran into:

Our primary challenges were choosing an efficient topic given the constraints of time and topic of social issues, and figuring out how to implement the AI into the Bubble software. These challenges were overcome through communication, dedication, and patience to finish our project effectively.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

We are proud of the end goal as we made a functional website that accomplishes the purpose of helping create healthy meals, and solving the social issue of unhealthy meals being eaten. For our first hackathon, we are proud of putting effort into coding and improving our knowledge while gaining real experience in the field we are learning about. Our milestones were getting through each stage of building the website and watching it all come together. The pizza and juice were also a bonus.

What we learned:

Having a clear plan is essential to making an effective project and that's why the first 30 minutes are so important. We imagine if we chose a different topic, we would not have been able to complete this project or have been as interested during the process. Moreover, given our team's lack of prior experience with APIs and AI integration, acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary for their implementation became an educational journey.

What's next for NutriBot:

Our next steps for this app are to add more resources and make space for user interaction on the website and through social media. In order to reach audiences and fulfill its purpose, marketing, and other work is necessary.
