Inspiration
Our inspiration came from observing the long queues in NUS canteens. We wanted to create a solution that saves time and energy, thus enhancing the dining experience on campus.
What it does
NUSTLE connects NUS students who want to order food with those already in line at food stalls. This peer-to-peer approach speeds up the ordering process and reduces wait times.
How we built it
We built NUSTLE using React for frontend, Node.js for backend as well as integrating Supabase for robust data management, validation and security. The development process involved agile methodologies to iteratively improve our app.
Challenges we ran into
We faced challenges in ensuring real-time updates, linking of the frontend and backend and ensuring cross-platform operability (IOS and Android). Overcoming these required research, collaboration, and innovative problem-solving.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of developing a fully functional app that genuinely solves a problem faced by our peers. Our greatest achievement was to integrate a PayNow feature for mobile payment as well as to integrate an accurate map system.
What we learned
This project was a tremendous learning opportunity. We gained insights into real-time data management, user interface design and division of workload
What's next for NUSTLE
Looking ahead, we plan to offer an in-app ewallet option and streamline UI design to better accomodate new features. We are excited to see how NUSTLE evolves and continues to serve the NUS community.
